Beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, and well-regarded friend and neighbour. Stan was a quiet, good-natured gentleman who will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many communities whose lives he touched.
A Founding member and Patron of Commercial Hockey Club (Brisbane), he made significant contributions to Brisbane and Queensland hockey.
Stan has an enviable hockey record that includes all forms of the game.
He formed the Queensland Umpires Hockey Association in 1957 and held the position of Secretary for some 20 years. He held the ‘badge’ of International Umpire Grade 2 as it was known then.
Best known as an administrator for Brisbane Men's Hockey and a variety of Queensland roles, including Indoor Hockey for both Brisbane and Queensland. He also had a convenors role for all International Games played in Queensland, and so many other roles in all aspects of our game.
He was a Life Member of Hockey Queensland (1982) and was awarded an Award of Merit from Hockey Australia in 1979.
Stan was a co-owner of winning greyhounds, a keen punter at the races, Gold member at the Casino, and was a long-term Patron of Lions at Springwood.
He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
