TAFE Diploma Program in 2026
Hockey Queensland is proud to partner with TAFE Queensland to deliver two nationally recognised qualifications as part of Australia’s first Sports Diploma Hub.
As a student, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for:
- Diploma of Sport (SIS50321) – gain the practical and leadership skills to kickstart your career in the sporting industry, with a focus on performance development, coaching, and sport operations.
- Diploma of Event Management (SIT50322) – develop the specialist knowledge to design, coordinate, and deliver major events, with career pathways into sport, entertainment, and community event sectors.
This 12-month program is delivered from TAFE Queensland’s South Bank campus, with weekly field trips to leading sporting associations including Hockey Queensland, Football Queensland, Queensland Rugby Union, and Tennis Queensland. These experiences will help you understand how sport and event management principles are applied across the industry.
You’ll also complete up to 70 hours of work experience with Hockey Queensland, giving you real-world exposure and helping you graduate job ready.
What students will learn
- Diploma of Sport: develop and implement training programs, apply advanced coaching practices, understand athlete wellbeing and performance, manage sport development projects, and gain experience in professional sporting environments.
- Diploma of Event Management (Sport): learn to design and deliver sport and entertainment events, manage budgets, sponsorship, and stakeholders, run marketing and promotional activities, oversee event operations and logistics, and lead teams effectively.
This course is for adult learners, who are no longer at school, and the study time allocated is two days per week face to face, typically between 9am and 4pm, as well as some online self-paced study.
