Study with TAFE Queensland and Hockey Queensland at the State Hockey Centre

Through the Hockey Queensland and TAFE Queensland Academy of Sport TAFE at School program, students can complete a Certificate II in Sport Coaching (SIS20321) while still at school, with classes delivered from the State Hockey Centre.

Designed for students in Years 10, 11 and 12, the program combines nationally recognised training with practical, hockey-focused learning in one of Queensland's leading hockey environments.

LEARN HOCKEY AT THE HOME OF QUEENSLAND HOCKEY

Take your learning beyond the traditional school classroom.

Students attend the State Hockey Centre one day per week during the school term for one semester (two terms), combining classroom learning with practical coaching activities and experiences connected to the hockey environment.

Throughout the program, students will have the opportunity to:

• develop practical sport coaching skills;
• plan and deliver coaching sessions;
• build their understanding of athlete development and conditioning;
• apply their learning within a hockey-specific environment;
• gain exposure to Hockey Queensland coaches, staff and industry personnel;

• experience the facilities and environment of the State Hockey Centre;
• develop an understanding of participation, coaching and player development pathways; and
• connect their studies with real-world careers in hockey and the broader sporting industry.

GET A HEAD START WHILE YOU'RE STILL AT SCHOOL

Successful completion of the Certificate II in Sport Coaching (SIS20321) provides students with a nationally recognised qualification and can contribute up to four credits towards their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).

Students can then have the opportunity to continue their studies by progressing into the Certificate III in Sport Coaching for a further two academic terms. This can provide up to a further four QCE credits, as well as the opportunity to receive an ATAR rank for university pathway purposes, subject to eligibility requirements.

For eligible students, the course may also be available with $0 tuition fees through the Queensland Government's VET in Schools (VETiS) funding.
