Macquarie Sports Helps To ‘Grow the Game’ with Free Hockey Clinics
Published Mon 15 Sep 2025
Growing the game, that’s what it’s all about! Thanks to Macquarie Sports, Hockey Queensland was able to offer two free hockey clinics in September to schools in the Logan and Maryborough areas.
More than 450 children were introduced to the sport, many for the first time. During the two-hour session, students learned how to hold a stick, move the ball around properly, and played several mini-games.
The sessions ended with a question-and-answer session with our hockey ambassadors which included Olympian and Gold Medalist (2000 Sydney Olympics) and Current Women’s Blaze Head Coach, Angie Lambert OAM, and several young stars of the game which included Meka Crick, Hannah Cullum-Sanders, Oliver Harding, Maddy Kenny and Ryan Wilcox.
Students received a hockey stick, ball, bucket hat and ‘Way to Play’ Beginners Guide to take home to help them continue their hockey journey.
A big thank you to all the schools that participated, Logan Hockey Club, Maryborough & District Hockey Association, Brisbane Blaze TAFE at School Program and Macquarie Sports.
