Hockey Queensland New CEO Announcement

Hockey Queensland (HQ) President Paul Mantell is delighted to announce the appointment of Rebecca Randazzo as the organisation’s new Chief Executive Officer, commencing Monday, 16 February 2026.

Ms Randazzo brings more than two decades of senior leadership experience across sport, government and community-based organisations, with a strong track record in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, commercial development and the delivery of high-performance sport and participation environments.

Raised in regional Queensland, Ms Randazzo brings a deep understanding of the critical role local clubs, volunteers and pathways play in sustaining strong, state-based sport systems. This lived experience underpins her commitment to equitable access, statewide engagement and development of clear athlete and workforce pathways across metropolitan and regional Queensland.

Ms Randazzo joins Hockey Queensland following her role as General Manager at South Bank Corporation, where she led one of Queensland’s most significant public assets. Previously, she was Chief Executive Officer of Bicycle Queensland, overseeing statewide participation, advocacy, government relations and commercial sustainability for one of Queensland’s largest member-based organisations. Prior to this, she was Chief Executive Officer of Rideability, a sport education and inclusion-focused organisation that delivers programs in partnership with schools, disability services, First Nations organisations and government.

Mr Mantell said the Board was delighted to appoint Ms Randazzo following a highly competitive recruitment process.

“Ms Randazzo is a values-driven leader with a strong understanding of sport systems, governance and the importance of community connection. Her experience across participation growth, commercial strategy and stakeholder engagement aligns strongly with Hockey Queensland’s strategic priorities as we prepare for a significant period of opportunity and growth.”

Ms Randazzo said she was excited to join Hockey Queensland at a pivotal time for the sport and Queensland.

“With the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, there is a real opportunity to convert Olympic momentum into grassroots participation growth, venue and facility uplift, stronger high-performance pathways and more commercially visible Hockey Queensland and Brisbane Blaze brands. I am particularly passionate about ensuring opportunities reach communities right across the state, including regional Queensland, where my own journey began.”

Ms Randazzo will report to the Hockey Queensland Board and work closely with associations, clubs, members, volunteers, partners and stakeholders to advance the organisation’s strategic priorities and position Hockey Queensland strongly for its next phase of growth.
