FIH Umpire Fitness Testing

Published Mon 28 Jul 2025

In 2025, HA has moved to adopt the FIH Umpire Fitness Testing system, where FIH Umpires, HA Panel Umpires and QLD umpires who have been identified for possible HA consideration in the future, run a Yo-Yo Test 3 times a year for Outdoor umpires and 2 times a year for Indoor umpires. The testing months are March, July and November.

QLD is very fortunate to have a large group of umpires who are on current FIH and HA Panels and many umpires who have been identified within QLD from State Championship performances to ensure our Umpiring National representation is strong for many many years to come from U14s to Masters events.

With a large group of umpires to coordinate across our State, we rely heavily on our amazing volunteer Supervisors who are based in the regions to assist in witnessing our umpires' runs. HQ and the HQ UAP committee are very grateful for your assistance and time.

In the past few weeks we have seen these umpires run their fitness tests all across QLD. These runs have taken place in Gold Coast, Ipswich, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gladstone, Townsville and Cairns, with a few more runs to go in other locations in the coming days to ensure we have covered all our umpires. Well done to all the umpires who have turned up and given it your all.

Here are the photos from the Gold Coast crew last week and the Brisbane crew this week, hopefully more photos from other regions to come.
