Community Spotlight: Ipswich Hookin2Hockey players meet their local heroes

Families, young athletes, and community members had the chance to meet the incredible men and women who keep Ipswich safe during Ipswich Hockey Association’s ‘Local Heroes Day’.

During the event Hookin2Hockey athletes chatted with first responders, learned more about their day-to-day jobs, and had the opportunity to climb aboard and explore several of the emergency vehicles.  

A highlight this year, Queensland Police brought one of their horses who enjoyed a few good pats. To keep everyone fed, association volunteers also helped with a Hookin2Hockey BBQ.

The morning of course wasn’t complete without athletes stepping onto the turf and taking part in their regular Saturday Hookin2Hockey sessions.   Thanks again to all the local heroes who came out for a morning of family, community, hockey and fun.
