"This pre-season trip gives our teams vital experience in the lead up to the Hockey One League, in particular the athletes that have not yet been involved at hockey at this level," said Hockey Queensland High Performance Manager Lee Bodimeade.

"The 'Festival of Hockey' is a unique and timely opportunity for our local stars to shine on the national stage at home, something that is currently only achieved by moving interstate and playing for other states. For the last 2 years a significant amount of work has been put in place to explore and setup a potential return to the league for the Stingers. Having the Stingers play in front of a home crowd in Darwin is seen as a key step in that journey," said Jason Butcher, Hockey NT CEO.
