2026 U16 National Championships Wrap Up
Published Wed 22 Apr 2026
Queensland has wrapped up another outstanding campaign at the U16 National Championships in Hobart, with our teams competing, learning and developing on the national stage.
The Queensland Maroon Girls were a standout throughout the competition, finishing the tournament undefeated and claiming the Gold Medal. In a thrilling final against NSW State, the scores were locked with just three minutes remaining before Annie Dixon converted a penalty corner to secure the championship win.
This marks the 5th consecutive year that the Queensland Maroon Girls have won the U16 (and formerly U15) National Championships!
The Queensland Maroon Boys also finished their tournament strongly, taking on South Australia in the 5th/6th classification match and securing a convincing win to finish 5th overall.
Queensland’s Gold Girls and Gold Boys also produced strong performances across the week, with both teams finishing 7th overall after a series of highly competitive matches and narrow results.
Congratulations to our Queensland athletes and to our officials on representing our state well!
