The Chemist Warehouse One Minute Duel is a high-octane, sudden-death hockey tournament featured at the prestigious 2026 Hockey Queensland Open State Championships. This thrilling event pits players in a knockout format where each match is decided by a single goal. With both male and female 64-player brackets, the tournament promises intense action and excitement to uplift the Open State Championships experience for players and spectators. Compete with seasoned athletes and surprise appearances, fight for bragging rights and $1000 prize money!

Prize Money

  • The winner of each field will receive $1000 prize money

Tournament Structure:

  • Two separate knockout brackets (one male, one female).
  • Total of 64 players per bracket, including professionals and surprise celebrity participants.
  • Sudden-death format: first player to score wins the match.

Match Format & Key Rules:

  • Starting Play: Bully at the centre line
  • Winning Conditions:
    • The first player to score a goal wins the match.
    • If no goals are scored within one minute, the player who did not gain initial possession automatically wins.
    • Players must shoot from the opponent’s half; no shots from inside their own half allowed.
  • Prohibited Actions: No tomahawks, aerial shots, lifted balls, or any form of dangerous play.
  • Penalty for Foul Play: A player called for foul play, or who sends the ball over the side, concedes an empty net free hit to the opponent from the halfway line.
  • Matches officiated by Opens Umpire and Tech Panel
  • International rules of hockey will apply to maintain consistency and fairness.
  • Matches are played on small field surrounded by Hockey5 boards and smaller goals.

Eligibility

  • Participants of the Open State Championships have priority access to the event
  • Players need to be registered and fully financial with Hockey Queensland
  • Players must be 18 years or older
  • Priority will be given to the first 5 players registering from each team competing in the Open State Championships
  • Remaining spots will be filled on a first come first served basis
  • Players must be ready to play when called for the duration of the tournament.

Inclusion

  • Entry fee of $10 includes a free drink at the State Hockey Centre Bar during the event.
