Join us for an insightful and practical forum designed to support clubs and associations in growing strong, welcoming and sustainable junior hockey programs.

Session Format:

6pm-7:30pm: The session will open with Hockey Australia, where Harry Sleigh will share national insights and practical guidance on growing and developing your junior program, including what success looks like and how clubs can build strong foundations for the future.

We’ll then hear from our Member Association, who will outline their 2026 plans, providing clarity on upcoming priorities, opportunities and how clubs can align locally with state and national direction.

Rounding out the forum, Sam Elliot from Flinders University will bring a participation and research lens, diving into what really drives engagement at club level. Sam will explore:

• Welcoming new families to your club and creating positive first experiences
• Parental involvement, including strategies for engagement, re-engagement and supporting volunteer transition
• Meaningful engagement and fun, ensuring junior programs meet the needs of both children and families

This forum is ideal for club administrators, junior coordinators, coaches and volunteers looking to strengthen participation, improve retention and create environments where families feel connected and supported.

5pm-5:30pm: Join Hockey Queensland and Sport4All to learn practical ways to adapt activities, support diverse players and create welcoming environments for people of all abilities.

5:30pm-5:45pm: Gold Coast Hockey Association will share more about their new initiative for 2026, Friday Night Flicks. It’s a fun new competition for the U10s.
