Hockey Queensland Championship (18 years and over)

Minimum Age – All players to be 18 years of age at 31st December in the year that the competition is played. (Players who are 17 at the time of competition are eligible as long as they turn 18 in 2022)

Dispensation Requests – No dispensations will be given to players who do not meet the age requirement. HQ reserves the right to consider extenuating circumstances for Associations on a case by case basis. No decisions will set a precedent for future requests.

Reasons for the policy:

  • It is in line with HQ processes in 2021 for player dispensations, recognising the association’s need for flexibility.
  • It will assist associations which may find it difficult to fill their team with sufficient players of age.
  • It provides a pathway for younger players to transition into the next age group competition within their transition year.
  • It allows of age players the opportunity to play in an adult competition and provides them a State Championship to represent their associations.
  • It takes into consideration sport science advice protecting junior athletes in their mental and physical development

Association Team Nominations will close 10am Thursday 31st March 2022.
