Warwick Hockey slowly on the mend
Good news for Warwick Hockey Association, with the Queensland Sports Minister announcing last week that the State Government will be funding the replacement matting and shock pads for their new synthetic field after significant flooding.
The Queensland Government have also funded the required dugouts and fencing.
In addition, the Southern Downs Shire Council have committed to building a levee bank around two sides of the field, to protect it from future floods.
However, there is still a lot to do for Warwick Hockey with the grants not covering the full cost of loss. Without adequate facilities, the club has been left without the income gained from senior fixtures and greater business in the bar and canteen.
Hockey Queensland look forward to seeing Warwick Hockey return to full strength when all fixtures resume following the required repairs.
