Queensland Back in the Running
Queensland have defeated tournament favourites Victoria today in the U18 Women’s National Championships at the State Hockey Centre in Brisbane. It was a well contested, end to end first half with both sides having their chances at the goal. However no team could convert a goal for the entire first half.
It wasn’t until the 46th minute of play and into the second half that Queenslander Tiarna Gordon slotted a great field goal. Victoria could not strike back after some good time in the Queensland half, however Queensland again proved too good with Gordon scoring her second field goal of the game. The score remained two nil in favour of Queensland until the final buzzer.
Queensland is now competition favourite after only losing one game from five in the championship.
Final score QLD 2 - Vic 0
