National Volunteer Week
State Government acknowledges Remote & Indigenous Programme's Volunteer.
A volunteer is someone who serves in a community primarily because they choose to do so. Sport as a State, a Nation or on a world scale, has been and will always be reliant on volunteers.
On Wednesday 14 May, the State Government via the Minister for Police, Correctional Services and Sport, Judy Spence, recognised one of Hockey Queensland's many valued volunteers. During the celebrations of the National Week for Volunteers (Sport & Active Recreation Volunteers), the Minister launched the inaugural State Recognition Awards for Volunteers. Our very own Julie McNeil (nee Bartlett) was honoured for her services to the development of the Remote and Indigenous Programme.
Hockey Queensland wishes to thank Julie, along with everyone in hockey's strong volunteer base. Without all of our volunteers events such as State Championships, training and fixtures and so much more, would not happen.
We thank you for all of your time and effort that you provide to the hockey community on a daily, weekly, or annual basis. It is always appreciated but not necessarily always acknowledged.
Congratulations and THANK YOU
If you, or someone you know would like to become a volunteer at any level in the hockey community, please contact us on (07) 3399 6577 or contact your local hockey club/association. You are ALWAYS WELCOME.
