Blades Tame The Tigers In Perth

In a rematch of last year's final, the Queensland Blades rolled the MIA Tassie Tigers 7-2 in Perth on Tuesday 27 March.

If yesterday's performance sent an ominous warning to the other states, tonight's Blades' performance must have sent shudders through the opposition. Dressed in black, they sliced through the Tigers as if they weren't there, hitting targets, running in waves and finishing like there was no keeper standing in the box, it was an awesome display.

For the Tigers, they'll rue their loss to the Vikings yesterday, tonight's loss making it incredibly tough for them to qualify for Saturday's semi finals.

It didn't matter who was took the field tonight though, the class with which the Blades played would have beaten most international sides, let alone those at this week's Fast 'n' Furious AHL finals week.

All across the field they had winners, from Eglington backing up his performance last night with two more goals tonight, Liam DeYoung and Mark Knowles controlling the back, Rob Hammond the general through the midfield, Jamie Dwyer with the ball on a string and some of the younger Blades - Jacob Burns and Matthew Swann - also looking strong.

For the Tigers they just weren't able to get any rhythm to their movement, continually thwarted in their offense, while their defense was just bombarded by the powerful running of the Blades.

Having already qualified for the semi finals the Queensland Blades will play their last round game against the winless Adelaide Hotshots, while the MIA Tassie Tigers will not have given up hope, a good results against the Canberra Labour Club Lakers, as well as results falling their way, could see them still qualify for a final four spot.
