QUEENSLAND SCORCHERS WIN TIGHT GAME AGAINST NSW 3-2
The Queensland Scorchers defeated the NSW Arrows 3-2 tonight at the State Hockey Centre, in their first home game of the Australian Hockey League Finals Week.
The Scorchers started the game in rusty form, but managed to score first with Shannon Bain scoring in the 13th minute from a penalty corner when Angie Lambert’s first shot rebounded off the keeper for her to tap the ball into the net.
The Arrows returned the favour in the 32nd minute with a field goal to Meredith Orr, and taking the game to half time at 1-1.
The Scorchers came out of half time renewed enthusiasm despite the Arrows scoring their second goal in the first five minutes of the second half when Samantha Gale surprised the keeper in the 40th minute with a field goal.
Shannon Bain scored a mirror image of the game’s first goal when she tapped a rebound into the net following Angie Lambert’s first hit from a penalty corner in the 47th minute to tie the game.
The combination of Holmes and Lambert in the 58th minute of the game resulted in the winning goal for the Scorchers when a Lambert converted from a penalty corner in similar style to first two Queensland goals.

The Queensland Scorchers play their next game at the State Hockey Centre at 4.0pm tomorrow afternoon when they player the Wrest Point Demons.
