HQ Inspires Community

The Queensland hockey community has always demonstrated exceptional on-field teamwork and Hockey Queensland has developed an ethos to ensure that our game prowess is matched by a cohesive community and positive individual spirits.

Hockey ethos to unite and inspire community

All players, officials, coaches and volunteers will be requested to adopt the ethos to ensure that the reputation and integrity of our sport is upheld.

The ethos will be distributed to the hockey community in the coming months through various marketing materials.

Hockey Queensland President Karin Walduck believes that the ethos will give all players, management, administrators and volunteers a common character that will be demonstrated from Board level down to junior recruits.

“The Hockey Queensland Board is proud to adopt this philosophy and we look forward to every member of the state-wide hockey family taking control of their own spirit and demonstrating positive attitudes and behaviours.”

General Manager Garry West-Bail, who recognised the need for an ethos to be the “glue” to bind the organisation’s vision, mission and goals, applauds the Board for its support of the ethos as a means of inspiring continual personal, team, and community growth.

“I believe that the successful roll out and ongoing maintenance of the Hockey Queensland ethos will provide priceless opportunities for the present moment and opportunities to learn from the past,” he said.

“Hockey is a team sport that relies on players having trust and confidence, both in themselves and in their team as a whole.”
