Cracks Appear in Queensland’s Dominance of the U18 Nationals
Queensland was defeated by Western Australia today in a courageous performance during day four of the U18 Women’s National Championships. Things started off well for the Queenslanders when Tamara-Lloyd Jones slotted a great field goal in the 4th minute of play.
Queensland then defended well for the next twenty minutes until Western Australia evened the score off a quick penalty corner. Queensland struck back ten minutes later when captain Jamie Stone put Queensland back in front.
In last ten minutes of the first half Queensland began to show cracks under the pressure of a strong Western Australian attack and two more field goals were scored by the visitors.
The second half was more of the same for the Queenslanders as two more field goals were scored by the Western Australians in the 38th and 53rd minute.
However after 3 previous unbeaten games the Queenslanders are still in with a big chance. The biggest challenge will come tomorrow when they play tournament favourites Victoria.
