— filed under:

Congratulations to Barry Vohland and his team on a gallant effort in Port Lincoln today. Unfortunately the girls lost to Victoria in the final, but the team can still hold their heads high after a fantastic championship, with outstanding results from individuals and as a team.

Port Lincoln, a coastal city in South Australia, situated on Boston Bay at the southern extremity of the Eyre Peninsula. It is the largest city in the West Coast region, and is located approximately 280 kilometres ('as the crow flies' or 646 km by road) from the capital city Adelaide.

Day 12 - 24 April 2010 - Grand Final Day!
and the winner is Victoria.  Victoria def Queensland 4-3 today.  The two teams certainly produced one of the matches of the Championship earlier in the week, when Queensland came back from being 1-3 down, to win 5-3.  Victoria capitalised on this defeat and threw all they had at the Queenslanders today.  Well done to both teams.  The Queenslanders return home tomorrow before heading up to Townsville to compete in the Premier League/State Open Championships next weekend.

Final Placings:
1 - Victoria
2 - Queensland

4 - Western Australia

side lead to a convincing win.

Day 4 - 16 April 2010 - Rest Day

Day 3 - 15 April 2010
Queensland def Australian Capital Territory 3-1.  Congratulations to goal scorers Jacqui Day, Ashlea Fey and Kazzia Lammon.  The game started a little shaky for the Queensland team after an early ACT goal in the first five minutes. The strong Queensland attackers had the ACT defence under pressure until the score was levelled after a penalty corner goal conversion by Jacqui Day.  Queensland took the lead after a successful stroke by Ashlea Fey to leave the score 2-1 at half time.  Queensland held their form in the second half to come through with a 3-1 win after a goal by Kazzia Lammon  to go into the weekend top of the table.

After an unsettling arrival for many teams, Queensland left it all at the hotel, and took to the field in a strong opening performance.
