About Maryborough and District Hockey Association (MDHA):

The MDHA was established on 3 April, 1932.  The first fields at Doonvilla were purchased in March 1932. This venue consisted of 3 playing fields.

On 8 February, 1966, the Maryborough City Council advised it would accept the Association's offer to purchase a portion of an old rubbish dump in Woodstock Street. Work commenced soon after on the construction of new playing fields.  The Woodstock Street fields were officially opened on 30 March, 1968.

We now boast 5 full size grass fields, 1 synthetic surface and 5 modified fields, which are in full use during the hockey season from March to September each year.  In 1969, a Clubhouse was constructed and during the Golden Jubilee of the Association in 1982, the Indoor Sports pavilion was opened, in which Indoor Cricket and Netball is played.

Maryborough boasts six Olympians - John McBryde, Don McWatters, Mark Hager, Sharyn Simpson (McCarthy), Jenny Morris and Clover Maitland. Of these, four have captained Australia.  In addition two others, lan McBryde and Kay Lehmann (Kindervarter) also played in the Australian team.  On a State level, more than 250 players from Maryborough have represented Queensland from juniors through to seniors and Veterans.
