About Cairns Hockey Association:
Hockey was first played in Cairns in 1927 and has developed as one of the regions largest sports.
Hockey is played year round in Cairns with a winter competition, indoor hockey and a summer social season that attracts approximately 1200 players.
The winter season competition is played in the following divisions - U8 Boys and Girls, Under 11 Boys, Under 10 Girls, Under 13 Boys and Girls, Womens Senior Divisions from Classic to Division 4, Mens Senior Divisions from Classic to Division 3 and Veteran Mens and Womens.
A two story clubhouse was constructed in 1984 and the first international standard playing (artificial) surface was constructed in 1991. A replacement surface was laid in 1997 and this mat was replaced 2005.
Cairns Hockey Association currently employs a full time administration manager, groundsman/caretaker and a regional coaching director.
